Question 1

How do I get started with Mission Masters?

Accepted Answer

Download the Mission Masters app from the App Store or Google Play, create an account, and join an event using a join code or browse available events in your area.

Question 2

Do I need to pay to use Mission Masters?

Accepted Answer

Mission Masters offers both free and paid events. Some events are free to join, while others may require payment. Check the event details before joining.

Question 3

Can I give Mission Masters as a gift?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Choose Give as a gift on a pass or a game on our Buy page, or switch on Send this as a gift for any pass or game in your cart. You pay at checkout, and we make a gift certificate you can print or email. They redeem it with a code. A gifted pass is one year and does not renew.

Question 4

Can I give their email without emailing them the gift right away?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the cart, type their email and untick Email the gift to them now. We keep their email on the gift and send them nothing, so you can print the PDF or forward it on the day. You always get your own copy by email, and the certificate is in My Gifts whenever you want to download or print it again.

Question 5

What does the Party Mode purchase include?

Accepted Answer

The Party Mode base unlock is permanent for your organization at the price shown in the store. It includes every non-premium Party template, and Play Again is free. Premium themes are separate permanent unlocks at the displayed price or Master Points amount. An active ALL-IN or all-games pass includes all premium themes; other Party-covering passes include the base library only.

Question 6

What is a Trivia Night pack?

Accepted Answer

A Party game can be a Trivia Night pack: trivia and Place Your Bet only, with no photo, music, or get-up-and-move challenges. If the game you pick is one of those, setup skips props and physical prep.

Question 7

Why is my owned Party theme locked?

Accepted Answer

Premium-theme ownership and Party Mode base access are separate. If your base access or pass has lapsed, the theme stays visible as Owned but cannot be played until you restore Party Mode access. In the app, use Restore Purchases. A confirmed refund revokes the refunded item.

Question 8

Can I create my own events?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Organizations can create custom events through our platform. Visit our Custom Events page or contact us to learn more about setting up your own Mission Masters event.

Question 9

How do teams work?

Accepted Answer

You can play solo or join a team. Teams can be created before an event starts, or you can join an existing team. Team members work together to complete challenges and compete on the leaderboard.

Question 10

What devices are supported?

Accepted Answer

Mission Masters is available on iOS and Android devices. The app requires location services and camera access for the full experience. A Custom Whodunit is bought on our website and played in the app, and your guests can also join from a web browser.

Question 11

How do I redeem a gift certificate?

Accepted Answer

Go to missionmasters.io/redeem, or scan the QR code on your certificate, which fills in your code. Confirm your email and name, enter the 6 digit code we email you, and your gift lands in your account. No password needed. If you already have an account, we add the gift to it. Already in the app? Open the menu, tap Redeem a Gift, and enter or scan your code.

Question 12

Where do I find a gift certificate I bought?

Accepted Answer

Sign in, open the Account menu, and choose My Gifts. You can download or print the PDF, send a copy by email, or copy the code and the link to share it. Right after you pay for a gift we take you there, so you can download or print it on the spot, and your account page lists your newest gifts too.

Question 13

Do I need the app to play a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

No. Your guests can play a Custom Whodunit in the Mission Masters app or in a web browser on any phone or laptop, and your invitation link gets them in. There is no password to set.

Question 14

How do I join a Custom Whodunit I was invited to?

Accepted Answer

Open the personal link in your invitation email, say you are in, and answer the alter ego questions one page at a time. Your answers are saved, so you can stop and finish later on any device. On game night, open the same link and wait in the lobby for the host to start.

Question 15

What are the alter ego questions, and can I add a photo?

Accepted Answer

You pick a career, how good or bad you are, a secret skill, a rumor, a look and a catchphrase, then share a few true facts about you and two tall tales. Each answer is checked as you send it. Guest photos are not available yet, so you play with a ready-made illustrated portrait and nothing is stored; you can still say no to anything you do not want to share. Alter egos are for guests who are 18 or older.

Question 16

What if I miss the deadline for a Custom Whodunit, or want to reply late?

Accepted Answer

You can still reply and play, even on the night. The mystery is written once the host’s deadline passes, so you take the character the story already has for your seat, without an alter ego of your own.

Question 17

How do I buy a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

Order it on missionmasters.io, for yourself or as a gift. It is made to order, so you buy it on our website, not in the app stores. You set it up and play it in the app. The price is on its page. After checkout, your order page asks you to set up your mystery.

Question 18

How do I redeem a Custom Whodunit gift?

Accepted Answer

Redeem it like any gift certificate, at missionmasters.io/redeem or in the app (menu, Redeem a Gift). When it lands in your account you become the host, and your order page asks you to set up the mystery. Nothing is written and no guest is invited until you do.

Question 19

When is my Custom Whodunit written, and how long does it take?

Accepted Answer

We write it once every guest has answered, or at the latest time your game date allows: 6 hours before the game if you set it up more than 6 hours ahead, 3 hours before if you set it up 3 to 6 hours ahead, and 1 hour before if you set it up 1 to 3 hours ahead. Writing takes up to an hour, and your order page says it is still being written.

Question 20

Can I change my guest list after a Custom Whodunit is written?

Accepted Answer

Before it is written, change anything you like. After that you get one free change round until 24 hours before the game, then a paid rebuild until 3 hours before the game. Every rebuild sends everyone an update with their latest character. Inside 3 hours the guest list is fixed.

Question 21

What happens if a guest says no to a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

Their seat is played by a character we write, so the story still works and nobody is left out. A guest who changes their mind can still reply and play the character already written for that seat.

Question 22

Can I cancel a Custom Whodunit or get a refund?

Accepted Answer

You get a full refund before we start writing. After that, a refund only if we cannot deliver a playable game by the start time. There is no refund after the game is played. Contact support to cancel.

Question 23

Can I use a discount code or get a Custom Whodunit free?

Accepted Answer

A discount code can take a Custom Whodunit down in price, and a 100 percent code made for it makes it free: you check out as usual and still get a full mystery. A code only applies to the kinds of game it was made for. Mission Masters also gives some away as free gifts, with a claim link by email. A discount code never makes a gift free.

Question 24

Can I add my own photo to a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Guest photos are not available, so every guest plays with a ready-made illustrated portrait and no photo is stored. You can still say no to anything you do not want to share.

Question 25

Why did my guests get two invitations to a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

The standard game invitation goes out when the host finishes setup, and the custom invitation goes out when the host presses Send on their order page. The second one says it follows the first, so guests only need to answer once.

Question 26

What extras come with a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

Once your mystery is ready, the order page offers a morning-after newspaper, a dedication and a toast read by the narrator, three group awards, a party kit with ideas for your theme, a cast yearbook after the case is solved, a share link with three pictures, and printable placards and a keepsake. A name or face is printed only for guests who agreed to print.

Question 27

Can I keep a Custom Whodunit a surprise?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turn on surprise mode in setup and pick when the guest of honor finds out. They are left out of the invitations and see nothing about the game until then, and everyone else is asked to keep it quiet.

Question 28

Can a company book a Custom Whodunit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, through the corporate quote and payment link: one table or two, up to 20 guests a table, and never more than two tables in one booking. Each table becomes its own mystery, with a coworkers tone and love stories off.

Question 29

How do I contact support?

Accepted Answer
