Put your game on a TV

Show the game board on your TV in a minute.

Easiest: install the Mission Masters app on your TV, open it, and scan the code. No app for your TV? Use its web browser, or cast from a phone or laptop.

Already signed in on your TV? Just start a game. It opens on the TV by itself.

Samsung TV: install the app

  1. Press Home on your remote and choose Apps. Not there? Scroll to the bottom of the menu.
  2. Select the search icon and type Mission Masters.
  3. Choose Install, then Open.
  4. The TV shows a code that says Scan to get started. In your game, tap Scan TV code and point your phone at it. Or scan it with your phone camera.

For Samsung TVs from 2022 on. Can’t find the app? Use the browser steps below.

Google TV and Android TV: install the app

  1. On the home screen, choose Search (the magnifier at the top), or open the Apps tab.
  2. Search for Mission Masters.
  3. Choose Install, then Open.
  4. The TV shows a code that says Scan to get started. In your game, tap Scan TV code and point your phone at it. Or scan it with your phone camera.

Works on Sony, TCL, Philips, and many Hisense TVs, and on Chromecast with Google TV and Nvidia Shield. Can’t find the app? Use the browser steps below.

Or use the TV’s web browser

  1. On the TV, open Apps and look for the browser. It is often called Internet, Browser, or Web Browser.
  2. Not in your apps? On many TVs, including Samsung, you add the browser from the TV app store first. Search for Internet and install it.
  3. Go to mmplay.io. Bookmark it for next time.
  4. The same Scan to get started code appears. In your game, tap Scan TV code and point your phone at it. Or scan it with your phone camera.
  5. Would rather type? Use Enter game code to display game board on the TV and type the code from the app.

Samsung, LG, Sony, and Hisense TVs usually have a browser. Vizio TVs and many Roku and Apple TV models have none, so use one of the choices below.

After you scan

  1. Sign in on your phone, or create your free account. The TV is now connected to you.
  2. Scanned from inside a game? That game’s board opens on the TV right away.
  3. Scanned with your camera? Start any game on your phone and the board opens on the TV by itself.
  4. Want a different account on the TV? Choose Log out on the TV, then scan the new code.

A TV that is already signed in to you needs no scan. Start a game and it opens on the TV. Log out only clears that screen, never your account or games. The TV never sees your password and never takes payment. Not your TV? Disconnect it under Connected TVs in your account.

Cast a Chrome tab (Chromecast or Google TV)

  1. Fastest: on the big-screen step, under My smart TV, look for a Cast to TV button. It shows in Chrome on a laptop or Android phone when Chrome can see a Cast device on your Wi-Fi. Tap it, pick your TV, and the board opens there by itself. (From the app, Cast to TV opens this website in Chrome first.)
  2. No Cast to TV button? Cast a tab instead. On a laptop, open Chrome and go to mmplay.io, then connect the screen with Scan TV code or a typed code.
  3. In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose Cast, or Save and share, then Cast.
  4. Pick your Chromecast or Google TV. Choose Cast tab.
  5. Move the tab to full screen so the board fills the TV.

Keep the laptop open and on the same Wi-Fi as the TV while you play. iPhones and iPads cannot cast from a web page, so use AirPlay below instead.

AirPlay from a Mac, iPhone, or iPad (Apple TV and AirPlay TVs)

  1. Open mmplay.io in Safari on the Mac, iPhone, or iPad and connect the screen.
  2. Mac: click Control Center in the menu bar, choose Screen Mirroring, then pick your TV.
  3. iPhone or iPad: open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then pick your TV.
  4. Turn the device sideways (landscape) so the board fits the TV.

Mirroring shows everything on that device, so use a device you are not playing on.

Vizio (Chromecast and AirPlay built in)

  1. Vizio TVs have no web browser, but most have Chromecast and AirPlay built in, so you send the board from a laptop or phone. Keep that device on the same Wi-Fi as the TV.
  2. Laptop or Android phone: in Chrome, on the big-screen step under My smart TV, tap Cast to TV. Vizio TVs with Chromecast built in show up in that list, so pick yours and the board opens on the TV by itself.
  3. No Cast to TV button? On a laptop, open mmplay.io in Chrome and connect the screen. Open the three-dot menu, choose Cast, pick your Vizio, and choose Cast tab.
  4. Mac, iPhone, or iPad: open mmplay.io in Safari and connect the screen. Open Control Center, choose Screen Mirroring, and pick your Vizio. Turn an iPhone or iPad sideways so the board fits the TV.

Vizio not in the list? Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi and that AirPlay is turned on in the TV settings. Mirroring shows everything on that device, so use one you are not playing on.

Fire TV (Silk browser)

  1. On the Fire TV, search for Silk Browser in the app store and open it. It is free.
  2. Go to mmplay.io and connect the screen with Scan TV code or a typed code.
  3. Use the remote to select Full screen on the page.

Roku (screen mirroring)

  1. Roku has no browser, so mirror a phone or laptop instead. On the Roku go to Settings, System, Screen mirroring, and allow it.
  2. Windows laptop: press the Windows key and K, then pick the Roku. Android phone: open Quick Settings and choose Smart View or Cast.
  3. On the mirrored device, open mmplay.io and connect the screen.

iPhones and Macs cannot mirror to most Rokus without an extra app. Use a laptop, an Android phone, or an HDMI cable.

Plug in a laptop with an HDMI cable

  1. Connect the laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable and switch the TV to that input.
  2. On the laptop, open mmplay.io in any browser and connect the screen.
  3. Set the display to Duplicate or Mirror if the board does not show on the TV, then choose Full screen on the page.

The most reliable choice for a busy room. No Wi-Fi needed between the laptop and the TV.

Good to know

  • The board is read-only. It never shows a team's private code or an answer before it is revealed.
  • You can disconnect any screen from the app: open host controls and choose the big-screen option, then tap Disconnect next to the screen.
  • The TV sign-in code lasts 60 minutes. The TV swaps in the next code about 30 seconds before it ends, and the last good code stays on screen until then. If a scan says expired, scan what is on the screen now. It is the same code whether you scan it from inside a game or with your phone camera. If the frame ever shows a fallback code and "Try again", the app is still working through a slow network or a limit; tap Try again or wait for the next refresh.
  • Hosting a Whodunit? The clue board shows a small Scan to join or rejoin code in the corner. Guests scan it and sign in with the email you invited, and they land right in their seat, even after the game starts. Need it bigger? Tap the Join QR button on your own screen (or Show join QR in Host Controls) and it fills the TV, no remote needed.
  • Ready to try it? Open mmplay.io on the screen you want to use.
